As recent events around the world illustrate, all governments and organisations must be prepared to deal with a variety of serious threats and it is the opinion of GioSec that the most effective way to deal with existing and emerging threats is to have an integrated prevention, detection, and response strategy in place before these threats manifest themselves in ways, which threaten nation states, its citizens or its assets.

DISCOVERY & REQUIREMENTS ANALYSIS .

Designing and developing the correct solutions to meet customer needs depends upon a thorough understanding of the requirements and the client's current position.  GioSec documents its complete discovery processes and creates a requirements analysis, keeping the requirements updated and inline and inline with programme as it progresses.

CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS (CONOPS) DEVELOPMENT .

Development of an operations concept and its approval is an essential step in assuring that the correct approach is developed.  This preceeds any project activity.

THREAT & RISK ASSESSMENT .

​GioSec works with clients to determine the nature and extent of the threats and risks associated with the client's operational environment business (requirements) and activities within that environment. This assessment is the foundation upon which the other GioSec services being offered is based.
This process includes interviews with client sponsors and stakeholders and all relevant staff to identify the client's key risks and threats as they are currently perceived by the client.  The risk and threat assessment might also include the collection of both general and specific threat intelligence from local and international secondary information sources with a thorough examination of past incidents and the utilisation of primary intelligence sources.
This information is then be analyzed by the GioSec project team and are subsequently categorized and evaluated based on probability of occurrence and possible impact on operations, outcomes, security and safety etc. and are then presented to the client in a formal risk assessment report/matrix.  
Included in this report are recommendations on what counter-measures should be employed in order to mitigate the risks and threats detailed in the report.  
Once the report is submitted, the consultants who created the report work with the client and respond to questions and identify subsequent actions.

SECURITY & VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT .

Once the risk/threat assessment is completed and GioSec has identified and documented the risks, GioSec consultants shall assess whether the current project plan is capable of mitigating those risks and threats and offer the protection required.  If the risk management strategy is determined to be inadequate, the assessment provides a starting point, by comparing the client's current risk posture to the recommendations listed in the risk assessment.

SECURITY OR RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN .

The security/risk management plan is based on the information gathered in the assessment listed above and the input of the client.  Often the required level of protection can be achieved in multiple ways.  Some clients prefer a manpower centric approach, while other will prefer a technology focus.  Often it is a combination of the two... 
While both are almost always required, meeting the clients needs, while respecting their desires, determines the security and risk management methodology.  This respect of client desires is a core value of GioSec.
The threat profile of the project is driven by the nature of the risk; however, a client may have additional concerns that must be factored into the process.
Once the determinations have been made, GioSec consultants will select strategies, products and the personnel required to meet the operational needs and project scope.  The consultants will then prepare a formal plan covering all the products needed, the vendors providing those products, staffing requirements at all locations, and a project management structure.
​This plan will then be presented to the client for review and approval.
