FIRST AID LESSON 12 - HOW TO TREAT A STROKE .

TOPIC OVERVIEW .

Like heart attacks, strokes can kill, but they can also leave the victim/casualty with a debilitating handicap.
As with all major incidents - prompt action saves lives!
​This lesson will introduce a stroke and how treatment should be applied.


OBJECTIVES .

The objectives to learn how to recognise and treat a stroke in order to minimise the impact on the casualty. 

REQUIRED MATERIALS .

Students require a file and/or folder, pen and paper and this will form the basis of the student's "Best Book".

CONTENT (LESSON BODY) .


ASSESSMENT .

All NPF officers should learn, practice and understand the content of this video.  
The assessment, which will be undertaken, is both a written and practical test with a final exam.

Strokes are a killer an prompt action can prevent longterm care or loss of life.
​Remember victims suffer - numbness, confusion, trouble seeing, trouble walking and severe headaches.
